Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years experience as a sous chef
- 3+ years experience managing teams in high-volume settings
- Ability to work rotating schedules, including holidays, weekends, and nights
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License
- Must be 18 years or older
- Completion of satisfactory background and Live Scan checks
- Completion of satisfactory pre-placement physical
- Adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must sign Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse
- Subject to DMV Pull Notice System
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently
- Ability to organize and monitor work assignments effectively
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience as a sous chef in a large-scale restaurant or hospitality environment
- 3+ years experience leading or managing teams in a high-volume kitchen
- Demonstrated ability in managing a culinary production team specializing in vegan, vegetarian, and healthy cuisine
- Culinary knowledge of food inventory, recipes, menus, and nutritional information related to health-focused menus
- Ability to organize, delegate, and monitor work assignments
- Experience in cost control including food, labor, and supplies
- Demonstrated skills in hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating staff
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Proven leadership in providing customer service and leading group meetings
- Skills in managing tasks amid changing priorities and workload
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve operational issues
- Experience in recipe development and menu testing
- Proficiency in equipment operation including mixers, food processors, ovens, grills, and communication devices
- Ability to measure ingredients precisely and utilize software for reporting
- Valid California Driver’s License
Job Duties
- Provide leadership and direction to the kitchen production staff
- Assign, motivate, and monitor the work of Assistant Cooks and Food Service Workers
- Prepare complex vegan, vegetarian, and healthy menu items according to culinary standards
- Ensure safe and proper use of kitchen equipment and train staff in equipment operation
- Maintain adherence to food handling and sanitation guidelines
- Keep accurate production and service records including temperature logs
- Supervise, schedule, and train team members while controlling food and labor costs
- Develop and assist in menu and recipe planning
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment
- Deliver outstanding customer service to all guests
