Job Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math
- Must have strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Minimum of two years experience in school food service
- Must complete state-required food service training and certification
- Must be physically able to perform job tasks including standing, bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting
- Must have reliable attendance and punctuality
- Must maintain a neat and clean appearance
- Must have good interpersonal skills to interact positively
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited establishment
- Ability to read, write, follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation in food service operations
- Minimum two years experience in school food service
- Food preparation and supervisory experience desirable
- Completion of Food Service Basics, Sanitation, Safety, and Communications classes through State-Wide Training Program
- Certification as the 'Person in Charge' according to health department codes
- Ability to work under pressure and tolerate physical demands
- Sufficient mobility for production and service tasks
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Neat and clean appearance with high personal hygiene standards
- Ability to interact positively with students, co-workers, teachers, and administrators
Job Duties
- Implement a standardized menu by preparing food and supply orders in proper quantities
- Adhere to sanitation and safety practices complying with State, County, and District requirements
- Assist with planning schedules and work assignments and training assistant servers
- Ensure compliance with National School Lunch, Breakfast, and After School Snack Programs, maintaining all regulations
- Communicate concerns about policies, procedures, and personnel to the Director of Food Services
- Promote student and staff satisfaction by merchandising meals attractively and addressing complaints
- Complete meal preparation of components and ala carte items for service during breakfast and lunch
- Collect money from students, prepare bank deposits, maintain accurate account balances and communicate with parents and administration
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and documentation of holding and serving temperatures
- Adhere to prescribed safety procedures including reporting hazards and administering first aid
- Complete required Food Service Department reports and forms timely
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
