Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year work or volunteer experience in a meal service setting
- Ability to travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences
- Flexibility to work variable hours including outside Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Criminal record clearance through state and federal agencies
- Reliable insured transportation and valid California driver license
- Acceptable motor vehicle report
- Health examination with tuberculin clearance
- Documentation of measles and pertussis immunizations
- Influenza immunization highly preferred
- Ability to be contacted outside regularly scheduled work hours in emergencies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year work or volunteer experience in meal service settings
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow recipes and portion controls
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and community partners
- Basic nutrition knowledge
Job Duties
- Follow menu and standardized recipes and consult with Nutrition Services staff before menu changes
- Utilize portion and cost control procedures to manage food service costs
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of food and supplies to avoid spoilage
- Complete accurate menu planning, food orders and inventory forms as required
- Submit all menu planning worksheets and food orders weekly
- Pick up supplies and assist in food delivery as requested
- Maintain kitchen equipment in sanitary and safe condition and request repairs or replacement as needed
- Plan and lead food experience and nutrition education activities in the classroom with teacher approval
- Follow dress regulations and sanitation practices to maintain safety in kitchen and dining areas
- Provide nutrition information and recipes to parents upon request
- Collaborate with teacher director, site supervisor, and Nutrition Services Department in menu planning and paperwork
- Coordinate activities to meet needs of children with special dietary requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
