Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year work or volunteer experience in a meal service setting
  • Ability to travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences
  • Flexibility to work variable hours including outside Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Criminal record clearance through state and federal agencies
  • Reliable insured transportation and valid California driver license
  • Acceptable motor vehicle report
  • Health examination with tuberculin clearance
  • Documentation of measles and pertussis immunizations
  • Influenza immunization highly preferred
  • Ability to be contacted outside regularly scheduled work hours in emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year work or volunteer experience in meal service settings
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion controls
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and community partners
  • Basic nutrition knowledge

Job Duties

  • Follow menu and standardized recipes and consult with Nutrition Services staff before menu changes
  • Utilize portion and cost control procedures to manage food service costs
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of food and supplies to avoid spoilage
  • Complete accurate menu planning, food orders and inventory forms as required
  • Submit all menu planning worksheets and food orders weekly
  • Pick up supplies and assist in food delivery as requested
  • Maintain kitchen equipment in sanitary and safe condition and request repairs or replacement as needed
  • Plan and lead food experience and nutrition education activities in the classroom with teacher approval
  • Follow dress regulations and sanitation practices to maintain safety in kitchen and dining areas
  • Provide nutrition information and recipes to parents upon request
  • Collaborate with teacher director, site supervisor, and Nutrition Services Department in menu planning and paperwork
  • Coordinate activities to meet needs of children with special dietary requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
