Job Requirements

  • ability to serve in a Christian environment involving prayer and worship
  • ability to make smart, timely decisions
  • ability to drive large box trucks
  • experience using pallet scale and knowledge of forklift and pallet jack operation
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • ability to work in varying temperatures between 0 and 110 degrees
  • ability to maintain a drug and nicotine free lifestyle
  • high school diploma or GED
  • Serv-Safe certification
  • valid driver's license approved by KGM insurance agency

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • preferred two years of warehouse experience
  • Serv-Safe certified
  • valid driver's license with ability to be approved by KGM insurance agency
  • ability to drive large box trucks
  • knowledge of using pallet scale, tailgate lift, walk behind lift-truck, and pallet jack
  • good communication skills
  • spiritual maturity consistent with evangelical biblical standards
  • ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Uphold, promote, and encourage organizational culture and values
  • coordinate timely pick up of donations with organizations, volunteer drivers, and Director of Food Service
  • record cooler/freezer temperatures and report temperatures that fall outside standards
  • coordinate weekly pulls with Kitchen Manager and Director
  • maintain daily communication with Kitchen Manager and Director of items being donated for menu development
  • refuel, store properly, and maintain cleanliness of mission vehicles
  • maintain orderly storage of food and non-food items in warehouse
  • properly rotate food using FIFO method
  • properly date incoming food
  • ensure safe and timely handling of temperature sensitive foods
  • direct and oversee volunteers and guests in sorting, organizing, and storing donated products
  • oversee creation and distribution of emergency food baskets
  • oversee donation of unused food items to partner organizations and record keeping of pounds donated
  • weigh and record food donations using Thrift Tracker
  • record appropriate data for South Michigan Food Bank
