Job Requirements

  • ability to understand food recipes and safe food handling practices
  • working knowledge of kitchen and food production procedures
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment, tools, and utensils
  • basic math skills
  • ability to work under pressure in a team setting
  • physical ability to lift, bend, pull, push, and twist
  • willingness to adapt to changing duties and feedback
  • availability to work during academic calendar, including some overtime and occasional Saturdays
  • passion for working with food
  • ability to self-reflect and receive feedback honestly

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma preferred but not required
  • one or more years of experience in a physically active job requiring standing for multiple hours a day
  • food handler's permit preferred
  • ability to understand food recipes and sanitation practices
  • basic math skills
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • works well under pressure in a team setting
  • ability to lift, bend, pull, push, and twist

Job Duties

  • prepare, portion, and serve appropriate quantities of food to students
  • cut and chop fruits and vegetables according to recipes
  • adhere to established kitchen processes and food handling standards
  • monitor students during meal periods for behavior and encourage healthy eating habits
  • clean kitchen area including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, and disposing of trash
  • operate kitchen equipment, tools, and utensils safely
  • restock and reset kitchen for the next day
