Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a physically active role or on feet for extended periods
- Ability to move cafeteria tables daily due to shared space
- Preferred food handler's permit
- Physical ability to meet job demands including lifting and bending
- Availability to work during regular school days with potential overtime and occasional Saturdays
- Willingness to work according to academic calendar and breaks
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred but not required
- At least 1 year of experience in a physically active job or one requiring being on feet for multiple hours daily
- Food Handler's Permit (City or County) preferred
- Basic math skills applicable to food portioning
- Ability to understand and follow recipes
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Able to work well under pressure in a team environment
- Ability to lift, bend, pull, push, and twist
- Strong commitment to IDEA's mission and core values
Job Duties
- Prepare appropriate quantities of food according to recipes
- Portion and serve meals to students during meal periods
- Monitor student behavior and encourage consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables
- Follow established kitchen processes and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Perform kitchen cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, and disposing of trash
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, slicers, and steamers safely
- Restock and reset the kitchen for the next day
