Job Description
The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is seeking a dedicated Food Service Lead to join the team at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) located in Juneau, Alaska. Job Requirements
- Union referral for entry into the position
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass criminal history checks and fingerprinting
- Legal right to work in the United States
- Ability to work in a secure correctional environment
- Completion of necessary food safety training
- Availability for flexible work schedule
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of preparing and serving food for consumption
- Strong integrity and honesty with high ethical standards
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to interact respectfully
- Experience in supervising others in a food service setting preferred
- Understanding of correctional facility operations and security
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and dietary instructions
- Good communication and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate workers in food preparation and serving
- Ensure standard recipes are followed and portions are accurate
- Prepare and serve a variety of specialized diets as prescribed
- Maintain the highest sanitation standards in food service areas
- Coordinate meal service for approximately 650 meals daily
- Enforce food safety and security procedures within the correctional environment
- Collaborate with medical staff to accommodate dietary needs
