Job Description

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is actively seeking a Food Service Lead to join its team at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC) located in Juneau, Alaska. The Lemon Creek Correctional Center is a secure facility that serves both as an intake and long-term male correctional institution. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service preparation and supervision
  • Ability to work securely with inmates
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass criminal history check
  • Ability to pass fingerprinting
  • Commitment to maintaining safety and sanitation
  • Willingness to comply with PREA standards
  • Ability to use offender management systems

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of food preparation and serving
  • Experience in supervising food service operations preferred
  • Understanding of special diet requirements
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated integrity and honesty
  • Ability to work within a secure correctional facility
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate workers in food preparation and serving
  • Ensure all meals are prepared according to standard recipes
  • Oversee proper portioning of food items
  • Manage preparation of specialized diets including regular, no pork, vegetarian, low cholesterol/low fat, diabetic, and allergy-specific meals
  • Maintain highest standards of sanitation in all food service areas
  • Ensure timely and efficient meal service for approximately 650 meals per day
  • Uphold compliance with health and safety regulations in a correctional environment
