Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one year of experience preparing and serving food in large quantities, preferably in a school setting
- valid California driver's license
- possession of a valid First Aid certificate (12 month position only)
- ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds
- ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
- ability to work confidentially
- ability to operate food service equipment safely
- ability to prepare and cook foods applicable to the needs of children
- ability to meet schedules and deadlines
- ability to plan and organize work
- ability to read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- knowledge of district policies and procedures as they apply
- principles and methods of preparing nourishing and appetizing meals for large groups of children
- proper sanitary methods of preparing, cooking, serving and storing foods
- operation of equipment used in a modern food preparation environment
- oral and written communication skills
- interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
- ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, students, and parents
Job Duties
- Prepare or assist with the district's Class A Meal Program
- interpret and apply rules and regulations as appropriate
- assist in the instruction of student workers in food service
- assist in maintaining a clean, orderly food service area
- assist in inventory, stocking and ordering of food service supplies and equipment
- assist in packaging and delivery of meals
- assist in the service of meals to students and staff
- operate a variety of food-related equipment and machines
- perform related duties as assigned
