Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
  • One year experience in school food service program or two years paid experience in similar work
  • Valid California Drivers License
  • Must be bondable
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor including lifting up to forty pounds
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to drive safely over varied road conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of modern food services equipment
  • Knowledge of kitchen cleaning materials, preparation, serving and storage of food stuffs
  • Knowledge of modern sanitation requirements and feeding large groups
  • Ability to exercise care and consideration in observing sanitation requirements
  • Ability to follow menus, prepare tasteful food and present it professionally
  • Ability to judge quantity requirements and minimize waste
  • Ability to work cooperatively with principals, teachers, students and other personnel
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to recognize unsafe conditions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to drive safely over a variety of road conditions
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor including lifting up to forty pounds
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships
  • Ability to learn computers and related technology
  • Must be bondable

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, bake, sell and serve a variety of food
  • Make deliveries of food in various stages of preparation to other kitchens
  • Requisition foods from central production kitchen as assigned
  • Assist in maintaining central production kitchen food service inventory
  • Assist in record keeping for food deliveries
  • Keep food shelves stocked and goods in an orderly condition
  • Operate food services van and ensure the vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained
  • Report any unsafe conditions
  • Assist in cleaning dining room tables and kitchen after meals
  • Assist in all phases of kitchen operation to which assigned
  • Serve students and customers with friendly attitude
  • Supervise student helpers in absence of kitchen manager
  • Pick up deposits from assigned schools and deliver to county office
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
