Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1 year previous food service experience working directly with customers, clients, or patients, preferably in an acute care setting
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in patient care and contact for all age groups including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
- Physical ability to perform medium-heavy work including lifting up to 75 pounds infrequently, carrying up to 35 pounds while walking, and pushing or pulling up to 115 pounds occasionally
- Availability to work 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
- Willingness to adhere to safety policies including bloodborne pathogen exposure precautions
- Ability to manage ergonomic risks associated with repetitive motions and awkward postures
Job Qualifications
- Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Email, API, Meditech, and Computrition
- Basic diet knowledge including modified diets and ability to adapt patient menus accordingly
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Attention to detail with problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Previous food service experience working directly with customers or patients
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Duties
- Be aware of all Frederick Health diets and guidelines for appropriate options
- Record patient meal selections using computer-based menu system and paper tickets when necessary
- Work directly with patients for meal selections including late admissions
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure accurate diet prescriptions and meet patient dietary needs
- Maintain accurate patient information on assigned units
- Assist dietitian in monitoring patients on special diets such as NPO or liquid diets
- Post calorie count tickets for documentation on patient doors
- Use two-patient identifiers to verify correct meal delivery
- Take patient menu selections within designated time frames before tray assembly
- Introduce service and menu options and offer alternatives based on dietary restrictions and preferences
- Manage patient complaints and escalate to management when necessary
- Follow HACCP guidelines for food safety when assembling and distributing meals
- Utilize equipment safely according to departmental procedures
- Identify and apply correct cleaning chemicals based on safety guidelines
