Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Obtain Med Trans Corp Part 135 certification within first six months
  • Obtain AHA CPR certification and flight-following certification within first year (Western Region)
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Access and Excel
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to function calmly in high-pressure situations and multitask
  • Ability to learn new software programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Previous experience in dispatching, EMS or health unit coordination preferred
  • Must obtain certifications as required within specified timeframes

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Med Trans Corp Part 135 certification within six months of hire
  • AHA CPR certification and flight-following certification within one year for Western Region
  • Computer literacy including Word, Access and Excel
  • Excellent customer service, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to function calmly under pressure and make logical decisions
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team
  • Preferred qualifications include previous air medical communications experience, current EMT-B certification or higher, medical terminology knowledge, and EMS operations experience
  • Additional related education or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Activate and follow flight/ground teams during missions including flight following, customer notification and documentation
  • Triage and perform multiple critical tasks calmly and timely in emergency situations
  • Establish proficiency with Incident Command Systems and assist federal transportation agencies during incidents
  • Coordinate medical transport details with aviation, medical and communications departments and requesting agencies
  • Accurately input flight and ground transport information into network database following FAA Part 135 and NCME policies
  • Maintain positive relationships with referring and receiving facilities and pre-hospital agencies for safe and coordinated emergency response
  • Implement notification procedures for administration and appropriate agencies during incidents or emergencies
  • Function independently according to protocols and confer with supervisor for unusual or difficult situations involving aeromedical transport
  • Work closely with emergency service departments and internal administrative and patient placement teams
