Job Requirements

  • Able to work effectively and safely on wet floors, temperature extremes, and excessive noise
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to maneuver in a tightly-quartered environment
  • Willingness to work extended or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a sous chef or in a similar senior kitchen role preferably in a large-scale or high-volume setting such as hotels, convention centers, or catering
  • Extensive culinary knowledge with expertise in a wide range of cuisines and cooking techniques
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and inventory management
  • Culinary degree or certification is preferred
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with different teams and departments
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel up to 30% to support nationwide events

Job Duties

  • Assist the executive chef in menu creation and modification tailored to client preferences, seasonal offerings, and dietary restrictions
  • Oversee food preparation and presentation for large-scale events ensuring food quality meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Manage daily kitchen operations including food preparation, presentation, and service standards
  • Coordinate with event managers to align food service with event schedules
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including food safety standards and cleanliness
  • Manage kitchen budget to control food costs and reduce waste
  • Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to develop culinary skills and improve efficiency
  • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure effective communication, organization, and teamwork
  • Collaborate with other departments like front-of-house, catering, and event planning for a seamless guest experience
  • Travel up to 30% to support large-scale Sodexo Live! events nationwide providing culinary leadership and operational expertise
