Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a supervisory role
  • Ability to lead and train kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in kitchen supervision or management
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to analyze recipes and control food costs
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with nutrition and sanitation standards in a food service environment

Job Duties

  • Plans or participates in planning menus and utilization of food surpluses and leftovers
  • Estimates food consumption and purchases or requisitions foodstuffs and kitchen supplies
  • Reviews menus, analyzes recipes, determines food, labor, and overhead costs, and assigns prices to menu items
  • Directs food apportionment policy to control costs
  • Supervises cooking and other kitchen personnel and coordinates their assignments to ensure economical and timely food production
  • Observes methods of food preparation and cooking, sizes of portions, and garnishing of foods to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner
  • Tests cooked foods by tasting and smelling them
