Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Ability to work 3-11:30 PM evening shift
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow established safety and hygiene protocols
- Physical ability to perform cleaning and moving tasks
- Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required
- Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic understanding of infection control principles
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Ability to work evening shifts
Job Duties
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
- Establishes and maintains clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned work areas by following departmental policies and procedures
- Proper disposal of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations
- Maintains equipment, clean carts, buckets, floor machines, other equipment, and supply closets to give the hospital a professional appearance
- Must comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances
- Follows hospital/departmental policy on hand hygiene
- Completes and maintains all carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures
- Observes safety precautions when pushing equipment and reports faulty mechanical, structural or electrical problems
- Utilizes wet floor signs to prevent slippage
- Converses with patients and visitors using scripting to establish dialogue and extend every possible courtesy
- Assists with the moving of furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set-ups by request of the supervisor and/or staff
- Responds to pages or phone calls in a timely fashion
- Performs other duties as assigned
