Job Requirements

  • Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level
  • Experience generating documents
  • Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Demonstrated skill with office technology and software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to develop and implement administrative procedures
  • Ability to compile and aggregate statistics
  • Ability to plan program needs with minimal supervision
  • Understanding and adherence to budgets and relevant university policies
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, and constituent groups
  • Provide superior customer service maintaining composure during stressful situations
  • Experience working in higher education preferred
  • Events and marketing experience highly preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead planning and coordination of all School of Journalism and Communication events in the Portland area
  • Assist faculty, students, and staff in conceptualizing and executing events from inception to completion
  • Collaborate with University Advancement and other departments to ensure successful event outcomes
  • Manage logistics including venue selection, catering, and marketing communications
  • Oversee the scheduling and assignment of SOJC spaces for academic and event purposes
  • Supervise student workers and contractors involved in event management
  • Coordinate and administer the room rental program within the department
  • Provide on-site and remote supervision during events including occasional evenings and weekends
