Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
- Minimum 5 years of experience in convention center or large hotel hospitality industry managing large events
- Proven ability to create menus and banquet event orders
- Knowledge of hospitality and facility management principles
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize projects
- Capability to work under minimal supervision
- Willingness to work long, irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays
- Experience with Microsoft Office and event software
- Professional demeanor and work ethic
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
- 5+ years related experience in convention center and/or large hotel hospitality industry managing large events/conventions
- Experience creating menus for clients and BEO's
- Working knowledge of principles of hospitality management, facility management, services and equipment for similar facility
- Excellent organizational, planning and interpersonal skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects/multitasking
- Demonstrated problem-solving and communication skills
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and event software for drawing room diagrams
- Ability to work under limited supervision and interact with all levels of staff including management
- Ability to work long and irregular hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Oversees all aspects of facility operations related to events by communicating with Director of Operations and/or Director of F & B
- Produce approved Banquet Event Orders (BEO's) for each event and create customized menus for Food & Beverage
- Meet with client groups to plan and organize assigned meetings and/or events
- Coordinate activities with various service contractors for assigned meetings and/or events
- Guide clients in preparation of events by interpreting and explaining contract provisions, policies and procedures
- Keep clients informed as to status of deadline schedules including floor plan submissions, meeting room set-up specifications, insurance requirements, payment schedules and other relevant details
- Prepare cost estimates and ensure all costs are paid before the event takes place
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed requirements to operational departments
- Assist in scheduling operational set-ups to provide equipment or service needs
- Monitor facility set-up when necessary and communicate all issues with respective Directors
- Serve as primary liaison between clients and facility departments
- Monitor in-house events, maintaining close contact with clients and facility staff to ensure successful events
- Greet client upon arrival and stay with client during the duration of their event
- Follow-up on all client requests, concerns, and problems in a timely manner
- Attend planning, organization and other event and facility meetings in support of facility operations
- Serve as manager on duty as required
