Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of experience using commercial kitchen equipment, customer service, food preparation, and supervisory experience
  • mathematical skills including basic calculations and application of job related math concepts
  • ability to work with detailed information and maintain strict confidentiality
  • must have or be able to pass ServeSafe course within first 45 days of employment and maintain certification
  • valid Alaska driver’s license and use of personal vehicle
  • must be able to gain access to military installations

Job Duties

  • manage the operation of nutrition services to ensure quality, nutritious, and cost-effective meals daily
  • supervise kitchen staff and coordinate food preparation activities
  • maintain and operate commercial kitchen equipment including steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, and freezers
  • ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including obtaining and maintaining ServeSafe certification
  • manage inventory, ordering, and supply control
  • handle confidential information related to nutrition services and staff
  • provide excellent customer service to students, staff, parents, and the community
