Job Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy
- Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less
- Safely drive a tractor-trailer
- Ability and willingness to select, load, unload, and/or deliver all products ordered
- Stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish essential job functions
- Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading
- Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product
- Communicate with customers, management, and teammates
- Read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability and willingness to select, load, unload, and deliver all products ordered by McLane customers
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to perform essential functions
- Ability to read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations to verify product quantities
- Effective communication skills with customers, management, and teammates
- Ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and PeopleNet devices
- Ability to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to follow work instructions and safety protocols
Job Duties
- Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure
- Operate truck in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
- Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre and post trip and submit DOT inspection report
- Operate Driver Delivery Handheld device, document delivery receipts, product temperatures and exceptions, and inspect trailer to ensure product security
- Ride and train with Driver Trainer to various destinations, gaining knowledge of commercial driving skills and regulations
- Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipts and product information
- Assist Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises
- Perform other duties as assigned
