Job Requirements
- must be at least 21 years old
- hold a valid driver's license
- possess a good driving record
- able to obtain medical examiner's certification
- meet mandatory immunizations and credentialing if required
- capable of reading and speaking English sufficiently to understand traffic signs, respond to official inquiries, and complete reports
- able to work four 10-hour shifts within a Monday to Friday schedule
- willing to adhere to all company policies and procedures
- reliable and able to fill in as needed including remote locations
- capable of performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- compliant with all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- at least 3 years of experience preferably in driving shred trucks and box trucks
- current valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record
- ability to speak and read English sufficiently to understand traffic signs and communicate effectively
- strong communication and customer service skills
- ability to perform physical tasks related to waste handling
- knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to medical waste and document destruction
- ability to operate company vehicles and equipment safely
Job Duties
- performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information or pick up and transport medical waste
- pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations
- plans daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork, e.g., manifest, route sheets, previous VCR, etc.
- may prepare and load trucks to service select accounts ensuring enough supplies are added
- pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day and ensure compliance with packaging and preparation standards
- provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis, communicating any issues for resolution
- perform pre-trip and post-trip checks and driver check-in on assigned truck
- report any maintenance problems to transportation/dispatcher for follow-up
- operate company equipment safely and efficiently to minimize risk of injury and damage
- comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service
- ensure assigned paperwork is completed accurately and returned for processing
- ensure DOT driver log is completed if applicable
- maintain high level of security when emptying consoles and collection totes ensuring all documents are retrieved and containers securely locked
- communicate with transportation supervisor or dispatcher regarding any route changes or issues
- manage assigned routes ensuring timely and accurate collection and service
- handle and respond to customer problems and inquiries expediently
- perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
