Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • minimum two years' delivery driver experience in public or private agency
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation requirements preferred
  • prior experience with older adults preferred
  • ability to read and understand street maps and use electronic navigation
  • hold a valid Class C California driver’s license with a good driving record
  • maintain driving record in good standing

Job Qualifications

  • minimum two years' experience as a delivery driver in public or private agency
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred
  • prior experience working with older adults preferred
  • ability to read street maps and use electronic navigation
  • valid California Class C driver's license with excellent driving record

Job Duties

  • Provide customer service to participants and internal/external customers
  • represent agency positively
  • maintain confidential participant records as per regulations
  • assemble and load meals for assigned routes with up to 50 deliveries daily
  • ensure accurate meal count and supplies before and after routes
  • assemble and verify program-related supplies and obtain participant signatures
  • deliver meals and supplies timely and help participants with meal box opening and meal storage
  • report delivery or participant concerns promptly to supervisors and office staff
  • maintain food safety procedures and monitor meal temperatures
  • collect and return all materials from participants
  • conduct safety checks and social interaction with participants during deliveries
  • report emergencies and follow agency protocols including calling 9-1-1 if needed
  • clean and sanitize delivery vehicles multiple times daily
  • maintain assigned vehicles and perform maintenance inspections
  • provide double deliveries when needed for emergencies or holiday closures
  • make wellness calls to prevent participant isolation
  • support additional Meals on Wheels meal programs as assigned
  • maintain cleanliness of work area at central kitchen
  • assist with training new drivers and volunteer activities
  • participate in scheduled in-services and team meetings
