Job Requirements

  • Experience in retail, grocery, natural foods and/or cooperative business preferred
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Experience in commercial food preparation, food safety, knife skills and cooking equipment preferred
  • Ability to occasionally move up to 50 lbs throughout shift
  • Ability to frequently move objects up to 15 lbs throughout shift
  • Ability to move around the premises
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods
  • Ability to handle scanning and bagging groceries
  • Ability to operate position-required machinery
  • Ability to safely use sharp cutting instruments

Job Qualifications

  • Basic computer literacy including familiarity with using a web browser and email
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple demands, work under time pressures and meet department work objectives
  • Willingness to learn and perform all aspects of the position

Job Duties

  • Provide services offered in the deli area and respond promptly and politely to customer requests for assistance
  • Process ingredients, rotate, store, and display designated products in accordance with established practices, priorities, and recipes
  • Perform tasks at a pace that is consistent with department standards
  • Monitor food quality, record losses, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies throughout preparation, storage and display
  • Wash, sanitize and store cookware, utensils and containers in accordance with established practices and priorities
  • Maintain work stations and ensure cleanliness of department equipment, storage areas and display areas
  • Assist in training new staff on established systems
  • Achieve customer service standards for internal and external customers
  • Contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment
  • Abide by all cooperative policies and procedures
  • Engage in creating and maintaining a positive, ethical, and productive workplace
  • Follow and ensure compliance with all safety practices and policies
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory guidance including Minnesota Department of Agriculture and National Organic Standards
  • Achieve daily operational goals as directed by your supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness of department areas and equipment and communicate and document any equipment maintenance or safety concerns
  • Report problems with systems, tools and/or products
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Assist customers in finding products and information, answer and route phone calls and customer requests promptly and courteously
  • Move into back stock, rotate, stage, stock and merchandise products as needed
  • Promote ownership and owner benefits consistently and positively
