Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- two years experience in commercial food service or hospitality industry
- proficiency with English language speaking, reading and writing
- basic computer skills
- basic math skills including cash handling and use of measurement devices
- ability to handle customer inquiries in person and by phone efficiently and professionally
- ability to follow directions
- neat appearance and adherence to dress code
- must be able to routinely lift 50 lbs without restrictions
- ability to stand, walk, lift, use manual dexterity, reach, handle, bend continuously
- ability to push/pull, ascend and descend stairs and ladders frequently
- ability to climb, squat, sit, kneel occasionally
- must comply with food employee illness policy
- pre-employment screening including identity, criminal and drug test required
- must work on-site at Harvard campus location

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- maintains a positive working relationship with students, faculty and guests of the university
- operates Micros and/or Blackboard workstation
- swipes all ID cards as required
- processes all methods of payment including cash and non-cash transactions, Crimson Cash and Board Plus
- processes function counts and all meal replacement orders
- completes cash drawer audit at the beginning and reconciliation at the end of each shift
- requests appropriate denominations prior to opening and during meal periods
- deposits/submits paperwork, cash and meal tickets to secure site or management
- guides students/guests to safe menu items considering food allergies and intolerances
- informs students/guests on foods to avoid by knowing the menu or referring to person in charge
- reads and writes the daily menu board and is familiar with food items served
- monitors serving lines during meals to ensure quality and quantity
- supports events including setup, execution and cleanup
- maintains cleanliness of dining room throughout the day
- keeps tables, chairs, table tents, napkin dispensers and salt and pepper shakers clean
- refills napkins, salt and pepper shakers as needed
- updates table tents as directed
- assists in servery area set-up and dining areas as needed
- sets up front of house stations per unit guidelines
- separates menu identifiers and utensils for food
- completes dessert preparation and culinary display setup and breakdown
- reports malfunctioning equipment to management
- leaves work station clean and restocked
- recycles products per policy
- fills sanitation and temperature logs accurately
- reports corrective actions needed
- follows sanitation standards in compliance with regulatory agencies
- communicates and works cooperatively and respectfully with diverse staff, management and guests
- complies with food employee illness policy
- represents HUDS positively and professionally
- works to meet Harvard Dining Services mission and core values with enthusiasm and cooperation
- performs other duties as assigned
