Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years experience in institutional food service
  • Knowledge of food safety guidelines and sanitation standards
  • Ability to lead and supervise dietary staff
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including lifting and standing for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Two or more years' experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions such as school, facility or cafeteria
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to supervise and train dietary staff
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow menu and special diet instructions

Job Duties

  • Directs the day to day tasks of other dietary department staff
  • Performs routine tasks related to clean up and sanitation of kitchen, dining or serving areas
  • Guides or directs staff in food preparation and service
  • Cleans kitchen areas including cooking areas, prep area, restrooms, serving counters, dish washing area, dry storage area, cooler and freezers per policy with appropriate chemicals and processes
  • Assists cooking staff in meal preparations to include mixing, ingredient measuring, cutting, stirring
  • Assists with unloading and stocking of storage areas and coolers/freezers during truck food deliveries
  • Serves food to clients and staff at the serving counter
