Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Minimum of one-year commercial driver experience
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting over 100 pounds
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling
- Customer service experience
- Ability to operate light vehicles under 26,000 pounds GVW
- Familiarity with vehicle inspection and maintenance practices
- Proficient in route planning and time management
- Problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
Job Duties
- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes to ensure vehicles are in proper working condition
- Report on any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
- Properly document goods delivered or loaded
- Load and unload trucks
- Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
- Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations
- Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles using telephones or mobile two-way radios
