Job Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination as determined by a completed background investigation
- completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter
- ability to lift up to 45 lbs in the regular performance of duties
- appointment subject to a one year probationary period unless previous requirements met
- ability to work shift work including evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations with regularly scheduled rotation
- required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk
- mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and subject to annual vaccination
Job Qualifications
- Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
- ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. other than blueprint reading
- ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
- dexterity and safety
- work practices including keeping things neat, clean, and in order
- ability to perform common custodial, janitorial, and housekeeping activities within a large hospital setting
- skilled in loading supply carts and ensuring adequate cleaning materials and equipment are available
- ability to clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls
Job Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation required to meet the standards for hospital accreditation
- keep restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition
- load supply carts and ensure that adequate cleaning materials and equipment are available to do the job
- report to supervisor any broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains, burned out light bulbs and other equipment requiring maintenance and repair
- load rubbish and infectious wastes into carts, transport carts to areas outside the building and empty carts into commercial containers
