Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience handling cash
  • Valid food handler’s permit or ability to pass the exam
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to organize, supervise, and coordinate tasks
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene and professional appearance

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience handling cash
  • Possess a valid food handler’s permit or the ability to pass the exam
  • Working knowledge of basic math applications and computation skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare food production schedules or follow those provided by the supervisor
  • Cook a variety of foods following standardized recipes and methods of preparation
  • Schedule food preparation so that items such as vegetables and other cooked foods are prepared in small batches continuously throughout the serving period
  • Estimate food requirements and control serving portions to eliminate waste and leftovers
  • Instruct and supervise kitchen staff involved in food preparation
  • Check equipment and cooking areas regularly to ensure safety and sanitation requirements are met
  • Report repair and maintenance needs to the School Lunch Director
