Job Requirements
- Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
- One year of paid food preparation experience for Cook
- Two years of progressively difficult cooking experience with one year supervisory experience for Cook-Lead
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Ability to pass background investigation
- Ability to work flexible hours if required
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Ability to maintain sanitation standards
- Ability to communicate effectively
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade
- One year of paid food preparation experience (Cook)
- Two years of progressively difficult cooking and food preparation experience with one year of supervisory experience (Cook-Lead)
- Knowledge of safe kitchen equipment use and sanitation practices
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Ability to prepare food according to recipes and special diets
- Supervisory and meal planning skills (Cook-Lead)
Job Duties
- Prepare, cook, and bake a variety of foods in large quantities
- Follow recipes and instructions for food preparation and special diets
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain sanitation standards
- Requisition food and supplies to meet meal counts and menu requirements
- Cook and serve appetizing meals
- Maintain sanitary requirements in institutional kitchens
- Supervise and train kitchen staff (Cook-Lead)
