Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent highly desirable
  • Serve Safe Certification strongly preferred with requirement to obtain QFO within 30 days if absent
  • culinary degree strongly preferred
  • five or more years of culinary experience in healthcare preferred
  • strong English reading and verbal communication skills
  • ability to write and follow written instructions in English
  • basic math skills such as addition and subtraction
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • excellent interpersonal relations and customer service attitude

Job Duties

  • Portioning and packaging food items
  • preparing and cooking high quality hot and cold food items following HACCP and departmental procedures
  • slicing and cutting food products
  • following standardized recipes
  • completing HACCP and production paperwork
  • taking food temperatures and calibrating thermometers
  • setting up hot food to maximize presentation
  • communicating recipe ingredients and portion size to servers
  • safe use and maintenance of all production equipment
  • proper storage and utilization of leftover food products following HACCP
  • assisting the Executive Chef with training and education of cooks
  • maintaining the cleanliness of the cafeteria and kitchen
  • attending monthly department meetings
  • attending monthly departmental in-services
  • wearing uniform according to policy
  • washing hands and wearing gloves following serve-safe and state regulations
  • completing all required paperwork such as HACCP logs and temperature logs
  • demonstrating willingness to assist co-workers
  • restocking and maintaining a clean work station
  • completing work within scheduled shift
  • demonstrating proper cooking techniques
  • wearing personal protective equipment
  • completing mandatory education on time
