Job Requirements
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- ability to cook, taste, and smell food
- ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing
- ability to safely drive a Salvation Army vehicle following all laws and policies
- physical ability to perform tasks involving squatting, climbing, bending, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds
- commitment to supporting the religious mission of The Salvation Army
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- one year experience cooking food for large groups or equivalent training and experience
- knowledge of proper cooking methods and procedures
- knowledge of meal planning techniques
- knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices
- ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Food Handler's Certificate or ability to obtain within established timeframe
Job Duties
- Cook and serve nutritional meals and snacks according to established guidelines and schedules
- ensure meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner
- clean kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances
- maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner
- follow food safety and sanitation protocols
- assist with kitchen organization and stock management
- comply with The Salvation Army's policies and procedures
