Job Requirements
- Completion of four years of high school or equivalent
- minimum of two years culinary experience
- ability to pass Southcoast's written culinary exam
- Serv Safe Certification within 60 days of hire
- fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption
- ability to work day and evening shifts including every other weekend and holiday rotation
- must be able to work 40 hours per week at Charlton Memorial Hospital
- effective communication skills
- commitment to food safety and sanitation
Job Qualifications
- Completion of four years of high school or equivalent
- judgment and planning skills for food preparation
- minimum of two years culinary experience
- institutional experience preferred
- ability to pass Southcoast's written culinary exam
- Serv Safe Certification within 60 days of hire
- fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or exemption signed post hire
Job Duties
- Prepare short-order foods
- prepare made to order foods
- prepare Garde Manger items for departmental feeding
- cook soups, stews, chowders, chili from scratch
- monitor food quality, temperature and flavor
- make corrections to food based on tasting, portioning and appearance
- accurately extend recipes to maintain meal costs
- keep production and temperature records updated
- report problems to Chef or Manager
- maintain cleanliness and organization of refrigerators and freezers
- follow established sanitation guidelines
- perform other reasonable duties as assigned
