Job Requirements

  • high school diploma
  • minimum of 18 years of age
  • ability to pass a background screening through the Utah Department of Health Services
  • ability to pass random drug testing
  • food handlers permit
  • at least 1 year of cooking experience in a high volume cook from scratch environment
  • desire to learn new skills within the culinary profession
  • excellent communication skills
  • excellent time management skills and work ethic
  • physical ability to stand bend squat lift at least 50 lbs and work in a safe manner
  • hands on experience with various commercial kitchen equipment
  • knowledge of food sanitation regulations
  • willingness to provide direction and minor supervision to servers and kitchen assistants as needed
  • ability to stay calm and maintain a positive attitude in stressful situations

Job Duties

  • following a dietitian approved menu prepare delicious meals ensuring an appealing and timely presentation
  • be aware of individual resident diet restrictions and modify recipes as needed
  • collaborate with the dining services director and other team members to experiment with new menu items and modifications
  • contribute with the planning and implantation of holiday meals and other special event menus
  • ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within a commercial kitchen including proper documentation
  • adhere to cleaning schedules to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization
  • take resident orders and serve food accordingly
