Job Requirements

  • completion of four years of high school or equivalent
  • minimum of two years culinary experience
  • institutional culinary experience preferred
  • ability to pass Southcoast written culinary exam
  • ServSafe certification within 60 days of hire
  • vaccination against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or documented exemption

  • judgment and planning skills for food preparation
  • ability to pass Southcoast written culinary exam
  • ServSafe certification required within 60 days of hire
  • fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or exemption on medical or personal grounds

Job Duties

  • prepare short-order foods
  • prepare made-to-order foods and Garde Manger items
  • perform scratch cooking including soups, stews, chowders, and chili
  • monitor food quality, temperature, and flavor
  • identify and correct food quality issues via tasting, portioning, and visual inspection
  • extend recipes accurately to maintain meal cost control
  • maintain production and temperature records
  • keep refrigerators and freezers clean and organized
  • follow established sanitation guidelines
  • report problems to the Chef or Manager on duty
  • perform other reasonable duties as assigned
