Job Requirements
- 2+ years food preparation and general maintenance of a kitchen
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, understand, and speak English sufficient to determine and carry out job duties
- Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner
- Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations necessary to understand recipes, measurements, and portion sizes
- Knowledge of the rules and procedures of sanitation and safety as they apply to production, storage, and service within a food establishment
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods
- Ability to comply with safety standards and procedures for both personal and public safety
- Ability to produce and present food in a high-volume restaurant environment and work effectively under conditions of a fluctuating workload and schedule
- Excellent organizational and time management skills skills to review daily orders and plan daily work schedules
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
- Ability to operate independently and exercise good judgment to ensure customer satisfaction
- Strong culinary techniques and practices and understanding of culinary terminology
- Background check required
- Live Scan background check before employment
- Must be 18 years or older
- Pre-placement physical examination required
- Subject to California DMV Pull Notice System and must have satisfactory driving record
- Available to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Ability to drive University vehicles such as electric carts

- Minimum 2 years food preparation and kitchen maintenance experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Ability to read, understand, and speak English adequately
- Strong culinary techniques and understanding of culinary terminology
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures applicable to food production
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for recipes and portions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Ability to produce food under fluctuating workload conditions
- Ability to exercise good judgment and operate independently
- Commitment to regular and punctual attendance
Job Duties
- Prepare and produce menu items for dining, banquets, and conference guests
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with inventory control and stock management
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines rigorously
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Engage respectfully with diverse populations in a high-volume environment
