Job Requirements

  • Completion of four years of high school or equivalent
  • two years culinary experience required
  • ability to pass written culinary exam
  • Serv Safe Certification obtained within 60 days of hire
  • fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19 or medically/personal exempt
  • availability to work per diem shifts including weekends and holidays
  • ability to work day and evening shifts from 4:30 am to 7:00 pm
  • physical ability to perform cooking duties and maintain sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Equal to completion of four years of high school or the equivalent
  • judgment and planning skills required for food preparation
  • minimum of two years culinary experience
  • institutional culinary experience preferred
  • ability to pass Southcoast's written culinary exam
  • Serv Safe Certification required within 60 days of hire
  • fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19 or exempt by signed statement
  • compensation commensurate with experience

Job Duties

  • Prepare short-order foods
  • prepare made-to-order foods
  • prepare Garde Manger dishes
  • perform scratch cooking including soups, stews, chowders, and chili
  • monitor food quality, temperature, and flavor
  • taste, portion, and visually inspect food for quality
  • adjust recipes and portions to maintain meal costs and quality
  • keep production and temperature records up to date
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of refrigerators and freezers
  • follow sanitation guidelines
  • report issues to the Chef or Manager on duty
  • perform other reasonable duties as assigned
