Job Requirements
- must be 21 years of age as per FMCSA regulations
- reside within 75 miles of assigned terminal or work location
- comply with all company policies and code of conduct
- pass pre-employment drug screen, random drug and alcohol tests
- pass criminal background check
- capable of operating equipment safety functions
- able to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- ability to meet FMCSA driving time requirements
- capable of working under tight deadlines and multiple priorities
- able to respond to written and oral instructions
- capable of performing physical activities including standing, lifting, climbing, twisting, and turning
- must have a valid motor vehicle record
- capable of safely hooking and dropping trailers requiring physical strength
- able to operate in various weather and environmental conditions
- responsive and reliable in attendance
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience
- valid Class A commercial driver's license
- one year driving experience
- registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- hazmat, tanker, and doubles endorsements
- ability to operate forklift and handle loaded pallet jack
- stable employment history preferred
- capable of meeting physical demands including lifting approximately 70 lbs
- ability to drive in various terrains and weather conditions
- familiarity with FMCSA rules and state motor vehicle laws
- authorized to work in the United States
- good interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- passing FMCSA medical exam and road test
- English speaking and reading proficiency
Job Duties
- operate all types of equipment including manual transmission and chaining tires
- safely operate tractor trailer for freight transportation in compliance with company and government regulations
- adhere to FMCSA requirements for commercial drivers
- maintain required driving and safety records
- comply with hazardous material transportation regulations
- ensure security of equipment and cargo
- conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- check gauges and indicators for vehicle malfunctions
- report maintenance issues promptly
- verify paperwork accuracy and report discrepancies
- use in-cab technology and electronic logs
- adapt to various schedules and dock work
- perform occasional over-the-road runs as needed
- provide professional and courteous customer service
- assist with local pick up, delivery, and freight loading/unloading
- maintain regular attendance
- perform additional duties as assigned
