Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Must be 21 years or older
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license, Class C, with less than 6 points in the prior 36 months and no DUIs in the prior 7 years
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton
- Ability to obtain a California Class B Commercial Driver License with passenger and airbrake endorsement before training completion
- Valid California Verification of Transit Training (VTT) Card
- Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC)
- Successful completion of NCTD Coach Operator course at Operations Central Instruction
- Subject to Federal Transit Administration drug and alcohol testing including random testing
Job Duties
- Collects fares and transports passengers on public transit buses
- Operates transit buses safely, courteously, and efficiently while maintaining schedule adherence
- Performs complete pre-trip inspections and safety checks on bus equipment
- Provides schedule, route, and fare information to passengers seeking assistance
- Assists passengers with disabilities by operating wheelchair ramps and securing wheelchairs
- Receives and transmits two-way radio messages related to accidents, emergencies, or bus operations
- Reports hazardous conditions along routes and adjusts routes as approved
- Maintains acceptable driving record and complies with traffic laws and NCTD policies
- Completes required reports as directed by management
- Contributes to enforcement of Equal Employment Opportunity policies
- Performs other duties as assigned
