Job Requirements
- valid commercial driver’s license with hazmat, tanker and doubles endorsements
- might be required to acquire transportation worker’s identification card (twic)
- acceptable motor vehicle record
- 12 months previous tractor trailer driving experience or be a graduate of a state certified and licensed truck driving school or have satisfactorily completed the Old Dominion truck driver training program (odtdt 8/88)
- ability to properly operate handheld tablets
- working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
- knowledge of dot regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and extended periods of time
- meet or exceed medical standards of the us department of transportation and satisfactorily pass drug and alcohol tests
- availability for around-the-clock trips and extended time away from home
- satisfactory completion of orientation/training program instructions by an Old Dominion qualified driver trainer
- at least 22 years of age

Job Duties
- operate vehicle safely within dot regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation of hazardous materials
- follow instructions as identified by dispatch or their managers and supplied documentation
- deliver containers in a safe, time efficient, and effective manner
- operate tablets/phones and any other computer/internal freight monitoring systems required
- communicate with dispatch or managers regarding delivery schedule impacts such as delays or mechanical issues
- conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain vehicle safety
- perform all other duties and tasks as assigned
