The Dining Room Supervisor role at LifeStar Talent is a pivotal position responsible for managing all floor operations in the dining area. Reporting directly to the Director of Culinary & Dining Services, this position plays a crucial role in coordinating food service, beverage management, equipment care, and ensuring overall property upkeep to meet financial goals and organizational initiatives. The Dining Room Supervisor fosters a collaborative team environment that prioritizes providing exceptional service to residents while maintaining high standards among staff. This position involves motivating employees, instilling accountability, and consistently driving successful outcomes within the dining room setting.

In this role, the Dining Room Supervisor oversees daily operations including planning, scheduling, and supervising dining room personnel to ensure smooth workflows and exemplary service delivery. They are responsible for recruiting, training, discipline, and performance reviews of the team while addressing any resident inquiries or complaints with professionalism and care. This supervisor also ensures a safe facility environment, adhering to sanitation, cash control, dress code, and employee hygiene standards. Maintaining a positive and professional representation of LifeStar Talent, the Dining Room Supervisor serves as a key contact point for residents, families, visitors, colleagues, and vendors alike.

The position demands consistent attendance and active participation in operational duties, including performing opening and closing management procedures. Given the nature of the job, the role is safety sensitive and requires physical capabilities such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and adapting to temperature variations within food storage and grill areas. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—are essential for interacting effectively with residents and team members in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a blend of leadership, technical knowledge, customer service excellence, and operational management within a hospitality context tailored to eldercare settings.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in hospitality or related field or equivalent experience
  • experience in hospitality leadership especially in continuing care retirement communities or similar
  • proven experience in catering and event management
  • track record of budgetary and financial management
  • strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • ability to lead teams with diverse skills, personalities, and cultural backgrounds
  • excellent customer service orientation

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Responsible for overall management of dining room operations
  • plans and develops daily operations
  • assists in scheduling, supervising, and participating in operational duties
  • schedules daily work assignments for dining room personnel
  • recruits, supervises, trains, schedules, disciplines, reviews, and directs dining room staff
  • responds to residents inquiries and resolves residents complaints
  • maintains and ensures safe facility environment including standards for maintenance and upkeep of dining room area and wait stations, food production and handling, cooking, housekeeping, sanitation, dress, cash control, and employee hygiene
  • notifies Director of Dining and Culinary Services of unusual events or safety issues
  • represents LifeStar Talent professionally and positively
  • performs opening and/or closing management procedures
  • ensures regular and reliable attendance
