Job Requirements

  • 3-4 years demonstrated experience in high-volume food production and general maintenance in a restaurant environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and speak English sufficient to determine and carry out job duties
  • Ability to interact in a team-based environment
  • Ability to perform effectively under fluctuating workload conditions
  • Skill in interacting effectively with guests, team members, and managers using positive body language, direct eye contact, active listening, and problem solving
  • Skill in adding and subtracting whole numbers, decimals, and fractions
  • Ability to stand, climb, stoop, push, and crouch for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand continuously during an eight-hour shift on uncarpeted surfaces
  • Ability to measure dry and liquid ingredients accurately
  • Skill in operating equipment such as mixers, food processors, cutters, slicers, blenders, impingers, gas range, flat top grill, charbroiler, hot wells, deep fat fryers, radio communication devices
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety rules applicable to production, storage, and service
  • Time management and organizational skills for planning daily work
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and provide quality customer service
  • Detailed culinary knowledge of food inventory, recipes, menus, and production methods including culinary terminology
  • Experience developing, testing, and perfecting recipes and menu items
  • Ability to train production team in recipe execution and equipment use
  • Leadership ability in high-volume food service including assigning and monitoring work

Job Duties

  • Provide team leadership to cooks, assistant cooks, senior food service workers, and food service workers
  • Assign, motivate, and monitor work in food production
  • Prepare complex menu items and recipes following culinary and quality standards
  • Utilize and train staff on production equipment safely
  • Ensure quality customer service and food quality
  • Adhere to food handling and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain accurate production and temperature logs
  • Assist management with recipe and menu development
