Job Requirements

  • high school diploma preferred
  • 3-4 years demonstrated experience in baking production and general maintenance in a bakery environment or equivalent
  • previous experience in high volume bakery preparation required
  • knowledge of food preparation techniques including baking and pastry decoration required
  • ability to measure ingredients accurately required
  • skill in basic math required
  • ability to lead and monitor others in bakery production required
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures required

Job Qualifications

  • 3-4 years demonstrated experience in baking production and general maintenance in a bakery environment or equivalent education and experience
  • previous experience in preparation of multiple bakery items for a high volume bakery
  • demonstrated knowledge of food preparation techniques including baking and cake and pastry decoration
  • ability to measure dry and liquid foodstuffs accurately
  • skill in adding and subtracting whole numbers, decimals and fractions
  • ability to assign, monitor and lead work in a high volume bakery setting
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety rules and procedures
  • strong bakery skills and understanding of bakery terminology and equipment
  • ability to read, understand and speak English sufficiently
  • time management and organizational skills
  • skill to prepare complex recipes to standards
  • ability to train and monitor others in equipment use
  • ability to maintain accurate paperwork
  • ability to follow production timelines

Job Duties

  • provide team leadership to one or more Senior Bakers, Bakers, Assistant Bakers
  • assign, motivate and monitor the work of others in the production of bakery products
  • prepare complex bakery recipes according to culinary, production and quality standards
  • utilize and train others in the safe use of bakery equipment
  • adhere to food handling and sanitation guidelines
  • maintain accurate paperwork including temperature logs and production records
  • assist in the development and testing of new recipes
