Job Requirements
- Training as a chef through an accredited program or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of proper cooking methods, sanitation, and dining room service
- Experience preferably from a hotel or health care facility
- Ability to collaborate with dietitians and implement dietary changes
- Physical ability to move intermittently throughout the work day
- Proficiency in English language
- Ability to adhere to scheduled work hours including some days and evenings
- Capacity to perform job-related functions safely with or without reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility
- Must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state or local law
- 5 years cooking experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare meals that are well balanced, creative and well presented
- Serve foods in accordance with dietary standards and restrictions
- Coordinate with the facility's dietitian and implement changes in residents' diets
- Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies
- Ensure department is maintained in a clean and safe manner, assuring all supplies and equipment are maintained
- Ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
- Adhere to the work schedule
- Assist the kitchen staff with meal preparation
- Serve residents and their guests in a friendly, timely and courteous manner
- Clean the dining rooms following meal service
- Prep materials for the next shift
- Wash dishes
- Assist with special events within the facility
- Take orders from residents and their guests
