Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is one of the leading broadline food distributors in the United States. With a diverse customer base that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice is dedicated to helping operators succeed by providing top-quality products, expert advice, and reliable delivery services. The company stands out from competitors by fostering close, consultative relationships with its customers through a team of compassionate sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. This collaborative approach ensures customers receive personalized support in operations, menu development, and product selection. Performance Foodservice's commitment to excellence extends beyond delivering delicious food; it helps independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators achieve their goals during every stage of their business journey.
This particular role is for a Shuttle Driver within Performance Foodservice's logistics team. The position offers a competitive daily pay rate of $271.30 with a schedule from Sunday to Thursday, generally dispatching around 4:00 PM. Employees begin receiving health and wellness benefits from day one, along with quarterly safety bonuses, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and additional perks. This role is integral to the food distribution network by ensuring trailers—both empty and fully loaded—are transported safely and on schedule between warehouses and shuttle yard locations. As a Shuttle Driver, you will be operating tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes with strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
In this role, you are not just responsible for transport logistics but are also the frontline representative of Performance Foodservice, interacting with customers, vendors, and coworkers professionally to maintain strong relationships. Duties include conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safely securing freight, completing all required paperwork, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. The position also requires proficiency in hook/unhook procedures, parking and securing equipment, and handling damaged goods or customer returns. As part of a team, the shuttle driver supports the company’s mission to deliver essential goods that sustain America’s food service industry. This job offers both stability and growth opportunities in an inclusive culture prioritizing safety, respect, and employee recognition, making it an ideal choice for experienced commercial drivers seeking a meaningful career in food distribution logistics.
