Job Description

The Catering Sales Manager (CSM) position is a vital role within the sales department of a prestigious hotel, reporting directly to the Director of Sales & Catering. This exempt-level role centers on managing and securing bookings for all events that do not involve guest room accommodations, except for social events such as weddings and holiday parties which may involve room bookings. Job Requirements

  • minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years of relevant catering management experience
  • proficiency in using event management software
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • professional appearance and demeanor
  • willingness to attend networking events and industry associations
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
  • reliable transportation to attend offsite meetings and events if required

Job Qualifications

  • minimum two years previous experience as a catering manager in a luxury hotel setting preferred
  • experience with Marriott CI/TY preferred
  • ability to negotiate, influence and sell effectively

  • ability to maintain composure under pressure

Job Duties

  • provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times
  • respond quickly and timely to all calls, emails and leads within 24 hours
  • solicit and secure business for the hotel through proactive sales techniques
  • develop strong professional long-term business relationships
  • create banquet event orders with all setup, A/V and food and beverage requirements
  • ensure all BEOs are signed by clients and distributed appropriately
  • maintain accurate billing information and manage deposit schedules
  • keep accurate and up-to-date event information in Delphi software
  • maintain organized files with all required event details
  • attend departmental and BEO meetings as directed
  • collaborate with Banquet Department on operations and event execution
  • be present onsite to greet groups and oversee event execution
  • follow up post-event to ensure customer satisfaction and address any issues
  • work with departments to communicate feedback as needed
  • ensure all billing is collected
  • assist other sales/catering managers with site inspections
  • participate in property specific customer functions
  • assist with sales reporting and data analysis
  • provide support during shows and help drive sales initiatives
  • represent the hotel professionally at all times
  • maintain a positive and cooperative work environment
  • perform any other duties assigned by supervisors
