Job Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of education preferred
  • One to two years experience in sales and/or catering in hospitality industry preferred
  • Ability to provide and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel occasionally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and close sales
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must maintain professional appearance and punctual attendance
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and maneuver for extended periods
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Must comply with company safety and security policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of education preferred
  • One to two years experience in sales and/or catering in hospitality industry
  • Excellent leadership capability and customer relations skills
  • Good communication skills, verbal, written and electronic
  • Intermediate computer skills including Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, PBX, Key system, and POS
  • Strong organizational, detail oriented and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of budgetary analysis and basic mathematical calculations

Job Duties

  • Manage group and catering accounts to maximize business potential
  • Negotiate group and catering business and contracts that meet or exceed hotel revenue goals
  • Make on-site and field presentations to prospective clients
  • Identify opportunities to up sell customer through food and beverage offerings, room upgrades, AV and lighting upgrades and spa services
  • Drive strategies to develop long term business relationships and repeat business
  • Prospect for new catering business using multiple methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, internet prospecting, and supplier partnerships
  • Produce and distribute accurate banquet and catering event orders, timelines, diagrams, and resumes within timeframe set by hotel
