Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively using hearing and speech
  • Ability to complete written forms
  • Capacity for visual inspection of merchandise
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform physical movements including walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
  • Willingness to learn and memorize PLU codes, locations of products, and company procedures
  • Ability to accurately scan and verify sales
  • Ability to handle monetary transactions with mental alertness
  • Occasional use of box cutting blades
  • Ability to maintain work area cleanliness
  • Ability to effectively navigate high-stress or volatile situations
  • Compliance with state and local certifications such as food safety handler cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operation
  • Willingness to perform duties efficiently and accurately

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous retail or cashier experience advantageous
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
  • Familiarity with retail point-of-sale systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple customer transactions
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to memorize product codes and company policies
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with regulatory guidelines
  • Ability to handle potentially high-stress situations with composure

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly and cooperative customer service
  • Operate check stand equipment including cash registers and scanners
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • Process monetary transactions including cash, checks, coupons, and refunds
  • Maintain knowledge of product location and ensure proper pricing
  • Keep check stand clean, neat, and stocked
  • Stock, price, and rotate merchandise
  • Assist customers at self-checkout lanes
  • Respond to alerts and errors in self-checkout transactions
  • Monitor multiple transactions and verify payments
  • Maintain safety in the work area
  • Follow all state and federal laws regarding restricted items
  • Adhere to USDA food stamp and WIC voucher procedures
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed
