Job Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to communicate effectively using hearing and speech
- Ability to complete written forms
- Capacity for visual inspection of merchandise
- Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform physical movements including walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- Willingness to learn and memorize PLU codes, locations of products, and company procedures
- Ability to accurately scan and verify sales
- Ability to handle monetary transactions with mental alertness
- Occasional use of box cutting blades
- Ability to maintain work area cleanliness
- Ability to effectively navigate high-stress or volatile situations
- Compliance with state and local certifications such as food safety handler cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operation
- Willingness to perform duties efficiently and accurately
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail or cashier experience advantageous
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
- Familiarity with retail point-of-sale systems
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple customer transactions
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to memorize product codes and company policies
- Commitment to safety and compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Ability to handle potentially high-stress situations with composure
Job Duties
- Provide friendly and cooperative customer service
- Operate check stand equipment including cash registers and scanners
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- Process monetary transactions including cash, checks, coupons, and refunds
- Maintain knowledge of product location and ensure proper pricing
- Keep check stand clean, neat, and stocked
- Stock, price, and rotate merchandise
- Assist customers at self-checkout lanes
- Respond to alerts and errors in self-checkout transactions
- Monitor multiple transactions and verify payments
- Maintain safety in the work area
- Follow all state and federal laws regarding restricted items
- Adhere to USDA food stamp and WIC voucher procedures
- Perform other assigned duties as needed
