Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Open availability for all days and shifts including weekends
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • ServSafe Certification or California Food Handler card within 30 days post-hire
  • Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the role with or without accommodations

Job Qualifications

  • Six months retail and food service experience recommended
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Fluency in the English language, spoken and written
  • ServSafe Certification, California Food Handler card is required within 30 days post-hire
  • Bi-Rite provides on-site training and certification
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Job Duties

  • Welcomes guests, provides assistance monitoring the entrance and exit of our retail location, assists with our guest shopping service, and supports the smooth operations of Front of the House, Produce, and Market departments
  • Assists guests quickly and accurately, answers phones promptly and courteously
  • Performs all cash handling, register functions, alcohol sales, and returns to Bi-Rite standards
  • Maintains working knowledge of PLU codes for produce, flowers, and other merchandise
  • Bags groceries according to guest specifications and department best practices
  • Keeps the business running smoothly by restocking, cleaning, organizing coffee and pastry offerings, utensils and napkin station, shopping carts, baskets and waste bins
