Job Requirements
- Associates degree in culinary, hospitality, nutritional, or business management or comparable work experience
- Minimum three years cooking experience in versatile culinary environments
- At least one year leadership experience
- Valid ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification
- Knowledge of food safety laws and storage requirements
- Willingness to work variable hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to be on call round the clock
- Willingness to travel with overnight stays
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to handle crisis calmly
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
- Familiarity with Publix hiring processes
- Competent in Microsoft Office software
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree in culinary, hospitality, nutritional, or business management or comparable work experience in a restaurant or cafeteria dining setting
- Three years of cooking experience in an environment where a variety of products and methods are used
- One year of leadership experience
- ServSafe or equivalent Food Safety Manager certification
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to food and food safety
- Ability to work a variable schedule including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours
- Ability to be on call 24 hours/7 days a week
- Ability to travel with overnight stays
- Strong enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm in crisis situations
- Organizational and time management skills including multitasking
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills
- Interpersonal and customer service skills
- Knowledge of Publix hiring and distribution processes
- Conflict resolution and facilitation skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Job Duties
- Assist supervision in the efficient operation of the department and ensure premier service to customers
- Monitor and execute a cafeteria’s annual operating cost plan ($500K - $2M)
- Facilitate and execute business area process changes in the cafeteria to ensure smooth transitions
- Develop hourly associates and provide leadership direction
- Ensure a safe work environment for associates
- Report on operations to departmental leadership
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
