Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma GED or HSED
  • Valid Class D driver’s license
  • Possess or obtain a Class B commercial driver license CDL or instructional permit CDLI with passenger and air brake endorsements or temporary permits
  • Ability to pass medical examination and controlled substance tests
  • Willingness to participate in City’s random drug and alcohol testing program
  • Able to sit for extended periods and possess good hand-eye coordination
  • Capability to perform duties in adverse environmental conditions
  • Able to perceive and discriminate colors sounds odors depth vision and communicate orally
  • Must comply with licensing requirements including interstate exemption or proof of license transfer
  • No multiple classifications employment allowed for City employees

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma GED or HSED
  • Experience in driving or operating large vehicles preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work well with others including co-workers and the public
  • Valid Class B CDL or instructional permit with required endorsements or temporary permits
  • Ability to handle stress and maintain focus under demanding conditions

Job Duties

  • Drive City bus on predetermined schedule Monday through Friday during public school year
  • Pick up and drop off riders from pre-determined locations
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Follow all safety and operational regulations
  • Communicate tactfully with students and the general public
  • Maintain punctuality and reliability in all assigned shifts
  • Participate in mandatory training and compliance programs
