Job Requirements
- valid driver’s license with excellent driving history
- CDL required
- hazmat certification where necessary
- knowledge acquired through 1 to 3 years of related work experience
- ability to lift 50 lbs
- ability to use pallet jack
- ability to perform physical tasks such as lowering and raising loading gear, opening and closing cargo doors, climbing on and off vehicle safely
- ability to work varying shifts including overnight and early morning
- able to communicate in English
Job Qualifications
- must read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to this position and FMCSA regulations
- able to obtain and maintain valid FMCSA physical certification with interstate non-excepted classification within 60 days
- able to obtain and maintain valid Class A CDL for interstate driving using manual and automatic transmission within 60 days
- preferred two years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- preferred sales experience
- able to lift 50 lbs
- ability to use a pallet jack
- able to lower and raise loading gear and open and close cargo doors safely
- capable of reading and understanding trip information and planning effectively
- able to use hand-held device that serves as a cell phone
- willing to work varying shifts including overnight and early morning
Job Duties
- perform assigned pre-shift activities to ensure productive shift
- conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and in route safety inspections according to FMCSA regulations
- safely and legally operate tractor-trailer following laws and company policies
- complete required freight paperwork including obtaining signatures and documentation
- plan trips effectively using maps, GPS, and other information to ensure on-time deliveries
- load and unload freight using electric pallet jacks and manual methods
- perform post-shift activities including coupling and uncoupling trailers, refueling, and securing equipment
